Shares of WealthTrust Securities Limited made a strong debut on the Diri Savi Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) on Thursday, 8 January, surging 167.14 per cent by the close of trading.

The company’s 71,548,244 ordinary voting shares, listed under the symbol WLTH.N0000, closed at Rs. 18.70, up Rs. 11.70 from the offer price, reflecting strong investor interest on the first day of trading.

WealthTrust Securities raised Rs. 500.8 million through its Initial Public Offer (IPO), which opened on 17 December 2025. The offer comprised 71.55 million ordinary voting shares with a par value of Rs. 7 each. The issue was rated “A- (Positive)” by Lanka Rating Agency, with Asia Securities Ltd serving as the manager to the issue.

The listing marks a strategic milestone for WealthTrust Securities, a primary dealer in government securities operating in both the primary and secondary markets, as it expands from a debt-focused business model into the equity market.

Commenting on the listing, Chairman Senaka Weerasooria said the company’s deep expertise in treasury bonds and government securities would translate into value creation for equity investors. “WealthTrust, with its unique and unmatched experience in government securities, is well positioned to deliver long-term value to investors,” he said.

CSE Chief Executive Officer Rajeeva Bandaranaike said the successful IPO highlighted the role of the Diri Savi Board in supporting capital formation. “This listing underscores the strategic importance of the Diri Savi Board in strengthening capital markets and providing a transparent platform for dynamic enterprises to unlock their value,” he noted.

The CSE recorded strong market activity in 2025, with 24 companies listing through equity and debt IPOs during the year. Market capitalisation reached a record Rs. 8.07 trillion, supported by all-time highs in the ASPI and S&P SL20 indices. The exchange expects continued momentum in 2026, with new IPOs and debt listings in the pipeline.
