Port City Colombo participated as a Platinum Partner at the ‘Invest Sri Lanka’ Business Forum 2025, held on April 3, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand.
Organized by the Sri Lankan Embassy and Permanent Mission in Thailand, in collaboration with the Thai-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce, the event aimed to promote Sri Lanka as a leading destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Southeast Asia.
The forum, hosted at the Grande Centre Point Surawong Hotel, attracted several prominent dignitaries, including Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and Sri Lankan Ambassador to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe. Other key participants included Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce Chairperson Vibeke Lyssand Leirvag and Thai Chamber of Commerce Chairman Dr. Poj Aramwattananont.
As a major highlight, Port City Colombo showcased its strategic vision and regulatory framework, highlighting its potential to attract high-value FDI. The presentation emphasized Port City’s role in Sri Lanka’s economic growth as a foreign-currency designated special economic zone focused on modern services.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya expressed confidence in Sri Lanka’s political stability and economic recovery, inviting investors to join the country's transformation. Ambassador Edirisinghe also encouraged Thai investors to explore opportunities in Sri Lanka.
The forum, which was held alongside the BIMSTEC Summit, marked a significant step in strengthening economic ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand. Thai-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce President, Dilan Samarakoon, highlighted the importance of the event in fostering regional growth and sustainable investment.
Port City Colombo’s participation reinforces its goal of positioning Sri Lanka as a hub for investment, innovation, and sustainable development.
