Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya will deliver the keynote address at a special session on Sri Lanka’s digital future at the Sri Lanka Economic & Investment Summit (SLEIS) 2026, organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The session, titled “Nation Building in the Digital Age,” will be held on October 13 at Shangri-La Colombo and will focus on how artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, innovation and education can drive economic growth and productivity.

The discussion will examine Sri Lanka’s readiness to adapt to rapidly emerging technologies, while developing the skills and capabilities needed to remain competitive and build a knowledge-based economy.

Joining the Prime Minister on the panel will be Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Secretary to the Ministry of Digital Economy; Prof. Roshan Ragel, Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering at the University of Peradeniya; and Sanjay Shah, Founder and CEO of Elevante AI. The session will be moderated by Vinod Hirdaramani, Chairman of Hirdaramani Group and Deputy Vice Chairperson of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The panel is expected to assess both the opportunities and challenges arising from AI and automation, including their potential to transform industries, improve public services, boost entrepreneurship and create new areas of economic activity.

Education and workforce development will also feature prominently, with discussions focusing on preparing Sri Lanka’s workforce for emerging jobs and strengthening the environment for innovation and technology-driven businesses.

The session will further consider the policy, investment, digital infrastructure and public-private collaboration required to support the growth of Sri Lanka’s digital economy.

SLEIS 2026 is being held under the theme “Positioning Sri Lanka in a Changing Global Economy: Resilience, Reform, and the Future of Economic Policy.” The two-day summit will bring together policymakers, business leaders, investors and international experts to discuss Sri Lanka’s economic outlook, investment opportunities and reforms required to support sustainable growth.
