Canary Wharf Holdings Pte Ltd of Singapore marked a significant milestone on 27 November 2025 with the official unveiling of Colombo Gateway One, a flagship commercial tower to be developed in Port City Colombo — the extension of Colombo’s Central Business District. The announcement event, held at the Port City Colombo Sales Gallery, drew leading corporates and high-net-worth investors, underscoring strong market confidence in the project.
Project Development Director Mohsen Dehghan, addressing attendees, highlighted the tower’s striking blue-sapphire-inspired architecture and outlined its key specifications. The 34-storey development will feature 28 floors of Grade A office space built to international standards, a highly efficient 1,080 m² typical floor plate, and six podium-level parking floors. He noted that the floor design supports flexible internal layouts while preserving uninterrupted panoramic views of the marina, ocean, and city skyline — attributes that position Colombo Gateway One as a next-generation commercial landmark in Port City Colombo’s Financial District.
Revan Wickramasuriya, Director General of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission, provided an overview of the regulatory framework governing the Special Economic Zone, assuring investors of the transparent, progressive, and business-friendly policies that strengthen Port City Colombo’s appeal as a world-class services hub.
Adding further confidence, Shiluka Goonewardene, Senior Partner at global advisory firm KPMG, presented an independent feasibility assessment reaffirming the project’s strong commercial fundamentals and long-term viability.
Floors are priced at USD 3.5 million upwards, with projected rental yields of 7.3% and expectations of sustained value appreciation. Early interest from Authorized Persons (APs) and Businesses of Strategic Importance (BSIs) signals strong demand and growing momentum within Port City Colombo.
The event’s robust turnout and investor engagement underscored Port City Colombo’s ambition to establish itself as South Asia’s next major business and lifestyle gateway.
