An agreement was signed yesterday between the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and the Ministry of Power & Energy to develop the first floating solar development project in Sri Lanka.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said the USD 5.2 Million grant was extended by the KIAT to Sustainable Energy Authority to develop two projects of 1 MW each of floating solar power.
The projects will be planned by Korean Engineering Companies and will be developed on Chandrika Wewa in Sabaragamuwa Province and Kiri Ibban Wewa in the Uva Province. The projects are expected to be completed by December 2024.
