ADB discusses ways of assisting Sri Lanka’s power sector reforms

A special ADB mission which was in Sri Lanka to discuss assistance for State Owned Enterprises (SoE) restructuring and Public Private Partnerships (PPP) met with the Power Ministry officials and Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) reforms committee members yesterday.



Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said the discussions focused on CEB reforms, developing enabling environment for Renewable Energy, establishing a dedicated unit in the Ministry that could support PPP projects, including projects identification & preparation, transaction advisory support & financing for renewable energy integration.



The mission was led by Takeo Koike, Directo, Advisory & ADB participants included Amer Chowdhury, Senior Public-Private Partnership Specialist, Santosh Pokharel, Senior Private Sector Development Specialist, Uresha Walpitagama, Project Officer (Finance), John Phillip Sevilla, Consultant.
