Sri Lanka has emerged as one of the top three summer travel destinations for July and August 2025, according to Emirates, the world’s largest international airline. The island nation has recorded a 32% surge in flight searches, driven by interest in its cultural heritage, scenic beaches, and affordable luxury.
Emirates’ latest global booking data highlights a rising demand for unique cultural experiences and lesser-known locales, with overall summer flight searches up by 7% compared to last year. Vietnam leads the trend with a 61% spike in interest, followed by Mauritius with 41%, and Sri Lanka in third.
Other strong performers include Japan (up 28%) and France (25%). Emirates operates four daily flights to Sri Lanka, with growing demand from travellers across the UAE, UK, US, India, and Australia.
The data also shows diverse travel patterns, with solo travellers dominating from the US, India, and Australia, while family and couple travellers from the UK and Germany are opting for longer stays in destinations such as Dubai and Sri Lanka.
