Sri Lanka successfully hosted a networking forum aimed at strengthening the nation’s export sector. The event brought together over 175 participants, including exporters and officials from Sri Lanka's diplomatic missions worldwide. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), the forum was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombo.
The forum aimed to foster direct dialogue between Sri Lankan exporters and officials from Sri Lanka's overseas missions, allowing for discussions on new market opportunities, export challenges, and proposals to enhance competitiveness. Participants also addressed the impact of newly introduced U.S. tariff regulations and provided feedback for improvements. The event featured presentations from prominent industry leaders, including those from SLASSCOM, SLEMEA, and the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association.
Key attendees included Deputy Ministers Arun Hemachandra and Chathuranga Abeysinghe, as well as EDB Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe. The forum is part of ongoing efforts to meet Sri Lanka’s export targets, with future quarterly evaluations planned to track progress.
